Nine drivers from Darlington, County Durham and Teesside have been fined in court this week for speeding and unlicensed vehicles. 

All the drivers appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court, where they were fined, handed points on their licences and ordered to pay costs.

Nine Darlington and Teesside drivers fined in court:

Stephen Davison, 46, of Gardenia Way, Billingham, was found guilty of failing to give the identity of a driver of a motor vehicle when requested between August 16 and September 25, 2023.

For this, he was fined £660, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £264, ordered to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service, and his driving record was endorsed with six penalty points. 

Jack Sean Duffy, 26, of Bede Crescent, Washington, pleaded guilty to having a vehicle which did not meet the insurance requirements on November 9, 2022. He was fined £146, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £58, and ordered to pay costs of £100.

Adeniyi Bashir Ikuyajesin, 46, of Wilshire Place, Tom Raine Court, Darlington, pleaded guilty to keeping a vehicle which was unlicensed on April 4, 2023.

He was fined £40, ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £5, and ordered to pay costs of £100.

Glen Anthony Lowe, 58, of Shotton Avenue, Blyth, was found guilty of keeping a vehicle which was unlicensed on March 25, 2023. The previous licence expired on July 15, 2022. He was fined £440, ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £98.34, and ordered to pay costs of £100.

Armindo Melo, 28, of Brock Square, Byker, Newcastle, was found guilty of having a vehicle which did not meet the insurance requirements on April 6, 2023.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88, and ordered to pay costs of £110.

Kenneth Potts, 63, of Cavendish Place, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to keeping a mechanically propelled vehicle on Cavendish Place after making a declaration under the Road Vehicles Regulations 1997 that the vehicle would not be used on a public road. 

He was fined £40, ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £115, and court costs of £85. 

Michael Winn, 24, of Moorside Crescent, Fishburn, pleaded guilty to using a vehicle which was unlicensed.

He was fined £146, ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £31.67, and court costs of £85.

Thomas Bell, 38, of Swarland, Morpeth, was found guilty in his absence of using an unlicensed vehicle.

He was fined £220 and ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £840 and court costs of £100.

Joseph Hunter, 29, of West View, Murton, Seaham, was found guilty in his absence of keeping a vehicle which was unlicensed.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £55 and court costs of £100.
