Police are reviewing their response after footage of officers restraining and arresting a teenage boy following a violent incident was circulated on social media.

Cleveland Police said they are assessing all of the evidence surrounding the incident at Newham Grange Park, Stockton, on Sunday (April 28).

They confirmed they were called to a report of a fight between two girls in the park where a number of young people had gathered at about 5.45pm.

Following the arrest of a 15-year-old girl at the scene on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, a number of other young people reportedly became abusive towards officers.

A 13-year-old boy was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence.

Video circulating online shows an officer pulling a male towards a police car. The officer then appears to be punched in the head.

The male is forced to the ground by two officers before being handcuffed.

“It is important in circumstances like this that we assess all evidence to understand the full context of what happened. A short clip posted on social media does not often capture the full picture.
