Dog lovers looking for a new best friend will be happy to learn there are dozens of dogs up for adoption in Darlington.
Dogs Trust Darlington have plenty of rescue dogs looking for a forever home this month.
We have compiled a list of nine pups hoping to bring some light into their new owner's lives.
Lenny
Meet Lenny, a handsome 6 to 12-month-old Collie (Border) Cross looking for his forever family. Lenny will require a patient family dedicated to his training.
He does best with constant companionship, especially while he's still a puppy, and will thrive in a home with children aged 14 years and over. Lenny enjoys quieter environments where he can explore without too many distractions.
Panda
Similarly, on the search for a forever home is Panda, a sweet 1 to 2-year-old female Lurcher. She would prefer a peaceful, gentle household where she can settle at her own pace. Panda takes her time making friends, so her future family will need to be patient with her.
Ideally, she would fit best in a home with older teenagers or adults and would appreciate a garden to safely roam and bask in the sun. Her confidence tends to blossom around other dogs.
Chewy
Next, meet Chewy, an 8-year-old Labrador Retriever. He's seeking his perfect retirement home complete with cosy sunbathing spots and toys to play with.
Chewy has arthritis that requires daily medication, but it doesn't stop him from enjoying life.
Elfie
Elfie, a lively Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) at 6 to 12 months old, is looking for a family that loves adventure and activity as much as he does.
He has a lot of potential but needs some work on obedience and house training. Elfie gets along with dogs and children of all ages and enjoys attending hydrotherapy sessions for his hips.
Trigger
Trigger, a 1 to 2-year-old Collie (Border) Cross, is ideal for an active family ready for adventures and willing to continue his socialization training.
He could happily live with another dog and school-aged children.
Penelope
Penelope, a 5 to 7-year-old female Irish Water Spaniel, maybe your ideal companion if you enjoy spending a lot of time at home.
Penelope needs to be your only pet, and she'll need your help to build her doggy social skills gradually.
Hugo
Lastly, Hugo, a 1 to 2-year-old Lhasa Apso has been doing great in his training and looks forward to continuing with your help.
Sensitive Hugo requires a calm, quiet household away from busy roads. He prefers being the only pet but loves having human companionship, including older children.
Willow
Willow, a lovely 5 to 7-year-old German Shepherd cross, is on the lookout for an adventurous home that will keep her entertained with plenty of playtime.
She is best suited to being the only pooch in the home but could have the odd walking friend.
Solomon
A 2 to 5-year-old Rottweiler, Solomon is looking for a quiet home and patient family to help him settle.
The centre has said he should only live with teenagers aged 16 and over who are used to larger breeds.
The trust said: “Solomon is on some medication to help with his legs and does attend hydrotherapy here at the Darlington centre which adopters will be asked to continue to bring him back for, free of charge.
“Solomon has shown us his love for toys. He especially likes the soft type!
“He could benefit from learning to 'drop and swap' so the fun can be extended to interacting with his family.”
