Dog owners in a County Durham town have been warned after an increase in dog fouling on a path.

Neighbourhood Wardens have said Kielder Drive in Stanley is a problem area and aim to tackle it with increased patrols.

Pictures from the path show dog poo bags left strewn across the path and in the nearby grassland having been left by owners.

Wardens have since placed dog fouling stickers on the lamp posts in the area in an effort to remind owners to pick their dog’s waste up.

A spokesperson for Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens North, said: “If you clean up after your dog and just throw the bag away, this is littering and you could face a fine of up to £150.
