The first-ever HYEM festival took place yesterday (July 16) in County Durham – can you spot yourself in any of the photos?
The Willington community came out in force this weekend for the HYEM festival that made its way through the town on Saturday (July 16).
The festival celebrates the history of Willington, and is named after the North East slang phrase that means ‘going home’.

Festivalgoers were spotted dressed up for the occasion, including a giant turtle ridden by someone dressed up as Mary Queen of Scots – who supposedly visited Willington during her reign.
The parade started in Park Street and made its way to Willington Town Green for the opening festival, followed by live music and entertainment, creative activities and more. There were also a host of free family workshops for everyone to participate in.
Unfortunately, the day's events were soured by anti-social behaviour in Willington and the bonfire planned for the final hour of the festival was cancelled on police advice.
A statement from Crook police said: “There has been a public order incident in Willington and as a result the HYEM Festival has been cancelled and a dispersal order has been put in place for Commercial Street, High Street, Albion Square, Willington Town Park and Park Street.”
The Facebook post added: "Anyone behaving in an anti-social manner will be dealt with robustly by police and please expect a police presence throughout the night.
"We urge any parents to make sure you know where your children are this evening."
Ben Tinkler, one of the organisers of HYEM, said the day was a rousing success despite the less-than-pleasant weather and early finish.

He said: “It went really well, and there was a great turnout for the parade. The community of Willington enjoyed the day.
“The weather didn’t really put people off as they still came and stayed to enjoy the whole event.
“It is just a shame that a few people spoiled it for the majority.”
