A MOBILE phone app aided the rescue of four children who were lost and stuck in a beck in the grounds of Ormesby Hall.
Cleveland Police and the dog unit were called to a report of the lost children at 7.45pm on Wednesday night.
The youngsters were panicked in the dark and rainy weather.
Officers worked closely with control room staff to guide one of the children through downloading the What3Words app.
This then allowed officers to trace the children straight away.
The children were uninjured and were returned home safely, which they were very grateful for.
The What3Words app can help trace people to precise locations using just three words and has also been successful in neighbouring force areas.
It is compatible with navigation apps, such as Google maps, and can give directions to specific locations.
Officers encourage people to download the app.
