TOWNSEND Janet of Willington, passed away peacefully on 5th May, aged 79 years. Dearly beloved wife of Alan. A much-loved friend of colleagues in Durham University, Bishop Auckland and District University of the Third Age, and Willington and Hunwick Labour party. Friends, please meet for service at Wear Valley Crematorium on Friday May 19th for 3:30pm. Family flowers only donations in lieu if so desired for Oxfam.

Very sad to hear of Janet’s passing. Janet was one of my lecturers in geography in 1990 at Durham. Her lectures were inspiring and had a lasting impact on me - more than any others! Thank you Janet. Sending condolences to her family .
